As I discussed on last night’s show, (click here for the podcast) entrance music/shtick is crucial for a wrestling superstar to be over with the fans. It is definitely not the most important thing, ranking behind wrestling abilities and mic skills but it is an important element. The WWE has known for decades that entrances can make or break a wrestler. The ability to design an entrance that will get fans pumped up for the event is what makes the WWE successful over its competitors.

Here are my top five current WWE entrance themes followed by the bottom five that should be changed.

Top 5

1. Alberto Del Rio. His entrance is a three prong attack that wreaks of Mexican Aristocracy. His music. His announcer. His cars. Little is said about Ricardo Rodriguez but he needs to be praised on his stellar performance done day in and day out. I love how he can insult the audience on a nightly basis and get away with it.

2. CM Punk. His new music ‘Cult of Personality’ is a welcomed change but I hope they go back to his old one in the near future. “It’s clobbering time!”

3. John Cena. Love him or hate him you have to respect a guy who can write his own entrance music.

4. Sin Cara. His music is not original but his high flying acrobats is. Only wrestler ever to use a trampoline for his entrance.

5. Kofi Kingston. SOS, I hear them shouting. Kofi brings a lot of excitement to the ring from the very beginning.

Bottom 5

1. Daniel Otunga and Michael McGillicutty. If I can’t remember your music then your music needs to be changed. Michael McGillicutty, please shorten your name. Not only is it hard to say it is also hard to spell. Otunga, bring back your A-List character.

2. Dolph Ziggler. Here is another star who has the skills and the charisma to be a champion with no entrance music to match.

3. Justin Gabriel. The 450 splash, probably one of the most impressive finishers in the business right now only to have him leave the ring with less than memorable music.

4. Ted Dibiase. Bring back your father’s music. So what if you won’t be labeled original. If it works it works.

5. Wade Barrett. He is a master on the mic, he is huge, he is funny but he is missing two things. He needs better music and he needs to rename his finisher. The Wasteland?? What does that even mean?

Do you agree with my picks? What are your picks?

Til next time.
